Telco and Media Converge in Amsterdam at IBC2018
The telecommunications and OTT sector’s most inclusive technology and media show IBC2018 is set for record attendance this month in Amsterdam with 57,000 attendees from 170 countries.
IPTV will be core to the inaugural Telco and Media Innovation Forum, designed for the leading players in the industry in addition to a new ‘Smart Connectivity and Multiplay Devices’ track within the IBC Conference Programme in order to provide a platform for collaborative dialogue between telecoms providers, media players and the OTT sector. The forum will examine the collaboration between telecoms players and content providers, digital transformation, OTT content and current challenges around the evolution of the telecoms sector.
Australian IPTV solutions provider CombiTel will be attending the IBC conference and exhibition from the 13 to 18 September. CombiTel CEO Eugene Razbash said that this leading tradeshow for media and technology professionals was mirroring the pace of change in the industry.
“The conference’s focus on telecom, IPTV and smart connectivity comes at a time when the media and telecoms industries are increasingly meshing and affecting audience growth and media consumption across many sectors,” he said.

The Telco and Media Innovation Forum will include keynotes from Matt Stagg, Director of Mobile Strategy at BT Sport, Jeremy Fox, Co-founder & CEO, Atrium TV who will discuss how content is developing and how telecoms providers are benefitting from joining their club, and Domingo Corral Lopez, Director of Original Programming, Movistar who will give insight into how his business is developing original content under the wider Telefonica brand.
The ‘Smart Connectivity and Multiplay Devices’ sessions will look at issues including 5G, exploring the impact the technology will have on broadcasting and beyond.
