The Omniscreen Solution at Christchurch Justice & Emergency Services Precinct Sees Major 2025 Upgrade

Since its deployment in 2016, the Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct (CJESP) has relied on the Omniscreen enterprise media platform to power its complex, multi-agency facility. The original system established a robust framework for internal communication and digital signage, integrating TV broadcast services within one of New Zealand's most advanced public buildings.

Originally implemented by CombiTel, the provider of the Omniscreen solution, in conjunction with partners like Kordia and the Ministry of Justice, the platform was built to meet the rigorous, non-functional requirements of a critical government facility.

In 2025, the CJESP system underwent a progressive and comprehensive upgrade, propelling its capabilities forward to meet the evolving needs of its multiple tenants. This major refresh leverages the latest Omniscreen technology to enhance security, content delivery, and operational efficiency.

The upgraded Omniscreen system now introduces several key features:

Multi-Tenancy: The new architecture is built for highly secure multi-tenancy, allowing each of the precinct's resident agencies (Courts, Police, Civil Defence, etc.) to manage their own dedicated content and channels within a unified platform, ensuring segregation while maintaining centralised oversight.

4K Video Playback: The solution is now equipped to support ultra-high-definition 4K video playback, ensuring superior image quality for informational, training, and internal broadcasting purposes on high-resolution displays throughout the precinct.
Highly Granular Content Management: Administrators now benefit from a sophisticated content management system that offers unparalleled control. This enables highly specific targeting of content down to individual screens, user groups, or time-based triggers, ensuring the right information is delivered to the correct location instantly.

In-House Channels with Pre-Defined Schedules: The platform supports in-house channels that can play bespoke video and media content based on a flexible, pre-defined scheduling system. This capability is crucial for running court and facility updates, training modules, or emergency procedure information on a reliable, automated loop.

New Omniscreen Device Control Portal: A new dedicated administrative tool, the Omniscreen Device Control Portal, has been introduced. This portal centralizes the management and monitoring of every connected endpoint, from set-top boxes and displays to encoders, drastically streamlining operational support and reducing time-to-fix issues.

The 2024 upgrade at CJESP underscores the enduring nature of the Omniscreen solution as a critical piece of the precinct's digital infrastructure, proving its capacity for not only long-term reliability but also significant, future-proof modernisation.
