CommunicAsia: Australian Tech Delegation Storms Asia

Australian technology companies were a prime showcase atConnecTechAsia, the new technology event which includes CommunicAsia, BroadcastAsia, and the inaugural NXTAsia, under the one umbrella held at Marina Bay Sands and Suntec Singapore between 26-28 June 2018.

 

Over 1,800 exhibitors from 52 countries attended with more than 900 product launches and 40 group pavilions. The three-day event covered the areas of info-communications, broadcasting and emerging technologies.

“The new umbrella event is a reflection of the converging industries of telecoms, media and technology (TMT) and mirrors the fast-changing digital and business landscape in Asia,” said Calvin Koh, Assistant Project Director for ConnecTechAsia.

The conferences at BroadcastAsia canvassed 4K, HD, OTT, monetisation on different platforms, live streaming, and AI in broadcasting, among other current themes.

“While bringing our shows under a single umbrella has helped us address the inter-connectedness brought about by the digital transformation, we make sure we are continually relevant and engage meaningfully with the industry,” Koh said.

The Victorian Government continued its 12-year commitment to supporting Victorian IT companies at the show, and this year, the pavilion had 22 Victorian companies exhibiting in addition to 30 companies visiting from Australia.

The contingent included technology specialists in shipping and logistics, IoT, M2M learning, IPTV, language products, laser technology, sports technology, AI and health software.

This year’s group of attendees include a mix of new participants and industry veterans who have offered support and mentored them. IPTV technology specialist, CombiTel is a seasoned exhibitor and took part in the delegations showcasing its Australian developed and globally deployed Omniscreen products. CombiTel MD Eugene Razbash said that the Victorian government’s support was invaluable for getting traction into the competitive Asian market and opening doors for new market opportunities. “We were very pleased with the rising demand for enterprise IPTV solutions and services emerging strongly from the areas of health, hospitality and education. We look forward to the next edition of  the show I 2019.”

The pavilion hosting networking and idea exchanges with other country pavilions including the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand. The goal for the Victorian Pavilion is to forge new business opportunities and increase technology exports; create new partnerships and collaborations; launch new products into the market and reinforce Australia’s leadership in developing innovative technology.
